DAMAC extends support to the UAE’s first-ever labour award

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 11 May 2023: Leading UAE-based real estate development company, DAMAC Properties is pleased to announce that it has extended support for the first edition of the Emirates Award for Leadership in the Labour Market.

As a Diamond Sponsor, DAMAC Properties will join the legion of companies supporting the government in recognising domestic workers, labourers, companies and businesses in the UAE and honouring best practices.

Held under the patronage of Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Vice Chairman of the Cabinet, Minister of the Presidential Court, this initiative by the MoHRE is aimed at enhancing competitiveness and productivity in the country’s labour market while advancing the well-being and quality of life of the private sector workforce.

Dr. Abdulrahman Abdulmannan Al Awar, Minister of Human Resources & Emiratisation, at the Emirates Labour Market Award made the announcement of the launch of the first edition of the Award in a press briefing on 10 May, 2023.

He added that the award would help build a comprehensive and strong economy and enhance the competitiveness of the labour market and the role of the government departments, as well as to develop the laws and regulations of the Labour market that will create a welcoming environment for the business community.

To ensure excellence and surpass expectations, we must embrace these best practices and collectively strive for excellence in the real estate industry,” said Hussain Sajwani, Founder and Chairman of DAMAC Properties.

The award will be divided into three categories - Outstanding Establishments, Outstanding Workforce and Business Services Partners, and a ceremony will be held annually to honour the recipients.

Under the Establishments category is for establishments or companies divided into a main category and six subcategories split by the size of establishments (small, medium, large, very large).

Four establishments will be recognised in the main category, for adopting the best practices in human resources and accomplishing the strictest compliance with work environment regulations and standards.

Outstanding Workforce category will recognise outstanding workers that have served the UAE’s businesses and communities. Divided into three subcategories, the criteria for this category are achievement, creativity and innovation, continuous learning, and social responsibility.

The Business Services Partners Category will acknowledge companies that have helped develop the best-in-class labour market practices, and will be divided into three subcategories.

The MoHRE will begin accepting applications from June 1, 2023 to August 31, following which in-office and on-field evaluations will take place in September, and the award ceremony will be held in November. Companies across mainland and free zones will be eligible to participate in the awards.
