DAMAC Chairman Hussain Sajwani recently discussed the changing landscape for investment, real estate and development for the tourism industry at the Tourism Recovery Summit held in Riyadh on May 26.

He touched on the exciting opportunities emerging for the tourism industry in the GCC — particularly Saudi Arabia. The Chairman also thanked the Saudi Arabian government for its forward-thinking vision and excellent planning of the future investment in the country’s tourism industry.

Mr. Sajwani shared the panel discussion with Greg O’Hara, businessman and Founder of the American company Certares, as well as Samih O. Sawiris Chairman of the Orascom Development Holding.

During the dialogue, Mr. Sajwani discussed how the pandemic has shifted consumer trends in the real estate industry, highlighting a shift from city-living to resorts and outdoor community spaces. He also spoke about how Covid-19 has ushered in a rapid tech-push, as companies are shifting towards zoom calls, rather than business travel.

Mr. Sajwani ended the discussion by praising the exciting changes happening in Saudi Arabia, which are being championed by Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman with his Vision 2030 agenda to reduce the country’s dependence on oil, diversify its economy, and develop public service sectors such as health, education, infrastructure, recreation, and tourism.
