Villas are becoming more popular in Dubai as people find apartment living restrictive – especially if they have children. Of course, both villas and apartments have their own pros and cons so it makes sense to do your research before deciding to buy a villa in Dubai. Buying an apartment in Dubai

 

Pros

  1. Security is better. Usually, visitors cannot enter without signing in at security or being accompanied by a resident. You’ll also find that there’s a benefit to having your neighbours so close – they are able to witness and report sinister activities.
  2. Municipal services like electricity, water or gas are easier as these are supplied by the building. That means bill payments are less of a hassle and you can be sure that you won’t run out.

  4. Most buildings have a gym, swimming pool and/or sauna which are free for residents.
  5. Most apartment buildings have convenience stores either in the building or within a short walking distance.

Cons

  1. If you are the owner, maintenance costs can be very pricey.
  2. Space is limited and investing in a larger apartment can be expensive.
  3. Unless your apartment is soundproof, many of your conversations could be overheard by the neighbours. You’ll need to be wary of this and keep your sound levels low.
  4. Upgrades or maintenance to your apartment would require approval from your building’s management first. These enhancements would also need to be carried out within specific hours on certain days.

  1. You are less restricted and have more freedom to expand, upgrade and design your home.
  2. You can have your own garden which makes the home feel more spacious and lets you enjoy time outside. If your garden is big enough, you could even include a pool if there isn’t one already.
  3. A villa is for a longer-term living so you’ll find that you’ll grow in the home, start a family and raise your children there.

Cons

  1. With more freedom, comes more responsibility. You might find the need to install security devices for your peace of mind – which comes at a cost.
  2. You’ll need to manage your own water, electricity and gas.
  3. You’ll need to pay for extra facilities and services like gym memberships, trips to the spa, etc.
  4. Chances are your villa will be located outside the city centre, meaning you’ll need to consider your commute to work.

  3. The hotel itself most likely comes with recreational facilities like a gym, swimming pool, sauna, spa, hair salon and Jacuzzi.
  4. There is usually a laundry service included in the price so you can have your clothing washed, dried and ironed a few times a week.
  5. There will be one or more restaurants to order your meals from. It’s perfect for someone with a busy lifestyle who doesn’t always have time to cook or run out to grab dinner.
  6. You can rent out the hotel apartment when you are away, which is a lucrative opportunity for those who travel often.

Cons

  1. Hotel apartments are fully furnished with strict rules regarding changing the design, layout or structure of any of the rooms.
  2. The place will rarely feel like your own as you are restricted when it comes to adding your own personal touch to the place.
  3. You might find there is a lot more noise than you are used to as you share the hotel with visitors and travellers who don’t have to stick to a workday schedule.
